I was born near Davis, California, but was mostly raised in Chennai, located in Southern India where my parents are from. After medical school in the lovely coastal Indian city of Pondicherry, I returned to the US for pediatric residency training at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York and Tufts Medical Center in Boston. After residency training, I went on to complete pediatric endocrinology fellowship training at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. I am now back in the beautiful Bay Area and enjoy seeing both diabetes and general endocrine patients. My research is the area of youth onset type 2 diabetes, specifically focusing on the genetic determinants of type 2 diabetes in children and the determinants of medication response in these children.
